Leave a gift in your will

A bequest is one of the most generous things you can do, and one of the most lasting. It costs nothing in your lifetime and shapes lives for decades after.

Your legacy

The next generation of whānau will thank you

Bequests are how charities plan for the long term. They're how we know we can run the helpline next year, fund the peer mentor program in five years, and keep the lights on for the families who'll need us in 20 years.

A gift in your will is private, flexible, and completely revocable until the moment it's needed. You keep total control during your lifetime.

Three ways to give

How a bequest can work

💝

A specific sum

"I leave $5,000 to Muskaan Care Trust." Simple, predictable, easy to draft.

📊

A percentage

"I leave 5% of my estate to Muskaan Care Trust." Grows with your estate. Treats family and charity proportionally.

🌟

What's left (residuary)

"After other gifts, I leave the remainder to Muskaan Care Trust." Often the most generous and the most meaningful.

The wording your solicitor needs

You don't need to draft anything yourself, just share this language with whoever's preparing your will:

"I give to Muskaan Care Trust (Charities Services # CC51234) of Auckland, New Zealand, [the sum of $______] / [____ percent of my estate] / [the residue of my estate] for its general charitable purposes, free of all duties and taxes. The receipt of the Trustees for the time being shall be sufficient discharge to my executors."

Important: always have your will drafted or reviewed by a qualified solicitor. Bequests should be made through a properly executed will.

What your gift could do

Whatever the size, here's what it can mean:

You stay in control
